John H. (Jack) Matthews

President & Chief Executive Officer

 

Jack Matthews founded Matthews Southwest in 1988. His extensive knowledge dealing with complex real estate developments including project financing has led to many successful projects throughout North America. Jack’s hands on leadership and ability to comprehend the challenges and solutions that come with developing iconic projects is a direct result of the success MSW has been able to achieve over the last 25 years. Prior to forming MSW, Jack was President of Matthews Group Ltd., a family-owned construction and development business, which produced up to $500 million a year in revenues.

 

 

Jeff Cohen

Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

 

Prior to creating VSV, Mr. Cohen served as Chief Operating Officer of Gatehouse Capital Corporation, where he was responsible for the development of three urban hotel mixed-use projects, most notably the $350 million W Hollywood Hotel & Residences, in Hollywood, CA, the $260 million W Victory Hotel & Residences, in Dallas, TX, and the $65 million W Hotel San Diego. Before joining Gatehouse, Mr. Cohen served as Director of Acquisitions & Development for Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Inc.

 

Additionally, Mr. Cohen has had experience with the following hotel companies, brands, and concepts: Hard Rock Hotels; Waldorf Astoria (Hilton); Hyatt Regency; Palomar (Kimpton); W Hotels – Aloft (Starwood); Westin – element; Westin Hotels & Resorts; Solage Hotels & Resorts; Sheraton Hotels & Resorts; Joule Hotels; Drai’s Nightclub (Drai’s Hollywood); Buda Bar, Ghost (NineGroup); Craft (Tom Colicchio); Spice Market (Jean-Georges Vongerichten); Dauphine; BOA; Katana; and Sushi Roku (Innovative Dinning Group).

 

 

David Snell

Vice President of Real Estate

 

With over twenty years of combined experience, Mr. Snell has worked as part of the MSW management team for the last 14 years. He has extensive experience in acquisitions, asset management, leasing, servicing, permitting and planning of large scale commercial and industrial land developments. Mr. Snell’s knowledge and experience in these areas have proven to be very beneficial to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.

 

Mr. Snell was Project Lead for the 1.1 million square foot, $346 million Omni Dallas Convention Center Hotel consisting of 1001 guestrooms, 80,000 square feet of meeting space, multiple restaurants and a 720-stall parking garage. Mr. Snell also played a senior role in the development of The Bow, a 3.0 million square foot office tower recently completed in downtown Calgary, Alberta. This two-block urban project exceeded $1.4 billion in total value and the highly qualified design team consisted of over 150 consultants.

 

 

Jerret Click

VP of Construction & Design

 

Mr. Click has managed construction of over $500,000,000 worth of hotel projects in the last decade ranging from the 5 star boutique Joule Hotel to the 1001-room Omni Convention Center Hotel in Dallas, Texas. He has worked with hotel brands such as Starwood, Marriott, Kimpton, Omni and Six Continents. Mr. Click is actively involved in the management of all phases of the project including design, pre-construction, construction, and post construction. Prior to joining MSW, Mr. Click was a Director of Operations with Balfour Beatty Construction where he spent 15 years working on a variety of commercial developments.

 

 

Greg Cohen

Director of Legal Affairs

 

Greg oversees and coordinates all legal matters pertaining to VSM. He drafts and negotiates agreements, administers compliance with contracts, forms entities and maintains corporate governance. Prior to joining VSM and VSV, Greg worked as the Director of Legal Compliance and Coordination at Gatehouse Capital Corporation where he worked as part of the W Hollywood Hotel & Residences project team and contributed to the development and financing of a myriad of branded, design- focused, mixed-use and hospitality oriented projects.

In addition to his hospitality focused work, Greg has prior experience working in the fields of corporate governance, contract administration, commercial real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, securities regulation and civil litigation.
